Who should pick which
Pick DripDM if
- People comment a keyword on Instagram and you want the link in their DMs.
- You want a price you can memorize: $0, $9, $14, or $29.
- You do not run WhatsApp broadcasts or a Shopify catalog in this tool.
Pick Wati if
- WhatsApp is the channel customers already use, and you need the official API, broadcasts, and a team inbox.
- You want Shopify, catalog messages, or several agents with routing.
- Instagram is a side door into a WhatsApp conversation, not the product you are buying.
Why Wati pricing is hard to quote
Wati’s own pages do not agree on a single subscription number. The live pricing page lists Growth, Pro, and Business, then says additional message charges apply. A Wati blog quotes different annual starting prices. A Wati landing page quotes different monthly prices again. This page does not pick one of those dollar figures.
What the pricing page does state: Growth connects 1 channel and includes 3 users and 1,000 automation triggers a month. Pro includes 5 users, extra users at $24 a month, and 2,000 triggers. Business includes extra users at $69 a month and 5,000 triggers. WhatsApp messages are billed from the rate card on top.
Instagram is not the center of Wati
The pricing page does list Instagram DM and comment automations, so this is not a WhatsApp-only product. The inbox, broadcasts, and rate card are still built around WhatsApp. If your week is “comment GUIDE, send the PDF,” you are paying for a platform you will not open.
DripDM never sends a WhatsApp message. A phone number someone types into an Instagram DM is not permission to message them on WhatsApp. Keep Wati, or another WhatsApp tool, for that second step.
A fair split
Use DripDM on the Instagram comment and the Facebook Page comment. Use Wati when the same person has agreed to a WhatsApp conversation and you need broadcasts, a catalog, or a staffed inbox. Cancelling one does not cancel the other.

What to do with a number you already captured
Someone comments HOURS, you DM the booking link, and they reply with a phone number. DripDM can store that number as a lead. It still cannot open WhatsApp.
If the next message has to be a WhatsApp template, that send belongs in Wati, with the consent you actually have. The Instagram rule and the WhatsApp broadcast are two tools. Keep both until one of them is unused.
