Facebook use case
Give a new Messenger visitor a useful first question.
DripDM can publish ice-breaker questions for a connected Facebook Page on Pro or above. They help the visitor start a request; they do not send a welcome blast to Page followers.
3 minute read
Choose a question that has a maintained answer
For a local workshop venue, useful starter questions might ask where to see upcoming events, how to request a private booking, or where to find the address. Each question should lead to one clear next step. Avoid a temporary discount as an evergreen starter: it can outlive the offer and send a new visitor to an expired page. Keep current dates at an authoritative destination that staff can maintain.
The starter label and its payload are separate configuration values. A friendly question without a tested handling rule is not a completed automation. Decide what should receive the payload, which fixed answer or URL it should produce, and when staff need to read the thread. Do not assume the label itself is delivered as a normal keyword message.
Publish and inspect the visitor experience
Connect the intended Page through Meta login with an authorized owner, select the correct account, and configure the questions and payloads. Use a second eligible account to open a new Messenger conversation and inspect which starters actually appear. Tap each one and verify the resulting inbound event, rule behavior, and destination. An account settings save does not prove that the visitor received the expected answer.
Review the wording from a phone and check that a question is understandable without reading your last post. If an event or service changes, edit the associated response and destination as well as the starter text. Keep a manual path for unusual booking requests; a starter menu should reduce repeated navigation questions, not force every visitor through an unsuitable option.
Keep the channel and permission boundaries explicit
This is the implemented Facebook Page Messenger configuration. It does not claim an equivalent Instagram ice-breaker editor. Instagram visitors can send an advertised word to an inbound DM keyword rule instead. Do not promise that a starter question guarantees a booking, takes payment, or retrieves customer records; it starts an interaction that your configured response can handle.
A comment can qualify for one private reply, subject to Meta eligibility and time limits. It does not itself open a general 24-hour conversation window. The recipient must reply before ordinary follow-up messaging can use that window. A link click or a new follow is not a substitute for an inbound message. Delivery also depends on account permissions, token health, recipient settings, and provider rate limits.
Capacity and rollout
Free includes one account, 1,000 DMs per month, 100 contacts, and 10 captured leads. Pro is $9 per month for three accounts and adds the follow gate, one follow-up nudge, scheduling, product cards, older-comment replay, and Facebook Pages. Growth is $14 for three accounts with 1,000 monthly AI credits. Business is $29 for ten accounts, five seats, and 2,500 AI credits. Paid messaging, contact, and lead quotas are uncapped in the plan configuration; Meta restrictions still apply. Sheets is a Business entitlement and needs provider authorization. Direct Meta Ads audience export is disabled, including on Business.
Test every starter after publishing and retain the settings needed to undo an incorrect response. Staff should inspect the selected Page inbox for requests the menu does not cover. Treat permission errors or unavailable provider access as blockers rather than replacing a failed live test with an editor preview.
