Use case
Reel comments can start the DM.
A Reel uses the same comment trigger as a feed post. The keyword, the public reply, and the private DM stay in one rule.

Why Reels need a DM
A Reel can collect comments faster than you can type. The keyword still gets a private link.
People who only leave an emoji do not match a keyword. Write the keyword in the caption so the right people use it.
Choose Next post or Reel when the Reel is not published yet. Turn the rule on first. DripDM uses the earliest post or Reel published after that time. Open Automations to attach the rule and read the notice.
After a Reel spikes
Pro can run a rule on comments that are already on a post. Use that when you add the automation after the Reel is live.
Make the Reel and the rule agree
A cooking Reel might ask viewers to comment RECIPE for the written ingredient list. Put that word in both the caption and the on-screen explanation, then target that Reel with a comment rule. The DM should identify the dish so a viewer who finds the message later knows why it arrived. Keep the destination mobile-friendly and leave ingredients at the linked page rather than squeezing the entire recipe into a message.
A burst of views does not make every viewer eligible for a DM. Only qualifying comments reach the rule, and cooldowns, duplicate protection, quota, and provider restrictions can reduce sends. If you add the rule after publication, use older-comment replay on Pro and inspect the scan result rather than promising to contact the whole thread. If the Reel is not published yet, choose Next post or Reel, turn the rule on, and publish. Open Automations to attach the rule. Monitor actual deliveries and taps separately from Reel reach; none is a guaranteed sale.
Prepare a test before asking your audience
Connect an eligible professional Instagram account through Meta login, or a Facebook Page on Pro or above. Select the intended account before editing a rule. Confirm the destination opens on a phone and that the offer matches what the caption promises. Use a second, eligible account for a real trigger test; an editor preview cannot prove provider delivery.
Inspect the public reply, private message, and destination separately. A successful public reply does not prove that the DM was delivered. Keep a record of the test time and inspect activity when something fails. Check permissions and rule scope before repeatedly triggering the same recipient. Disable a stale campaign rather than leaving an expired offer running.
Capacity, permissions, and realistic outcomes
Free includes one account, 1,000 DMs per month, 100 contacts, and 10 captured leads. Pro is $9 per month for three accounts and adds the follow gate, one follow-up nudge, scheduling, product cards, older-comment replay, and Facebook Pages. Growth is $14 for three accounts with 1,000 monthly AI credits. Business is $29 for ten accounts, five seats, and 2,500 AI credits. Paid messaging, contact, and lead quotas are uncapped in the plan configuration; Meta restrictions still apply. Sheets is a Business entitlement and needs provider authorization. Direct Meta Ads audience export is disabled, including on Business.
A comment can qualify for one private reply, subject to Meta eligibility and time limits. It does not itself open a general 24-hour conversation window. The recipient must reply before ordinary follow-up messaging can use that window. A link click or a new follow is not a substitute for an inbound message. Delivery also depends on account permissions, token health, recipient settings, and provider rate limits.
Questions
No. Choose the comment trigger and the Reel comments that match the keyword qualify. Watch can target that Reel, every post and Reel, or the next post or Reel.
No. Views, likes, and unrelated comments are not the configured keyword request. Inspect qualifying events and delivery separately.
Check the actual trigger, delivery activity, recipient reply, and destination separately. A scan, queued job, or link tap is not a completed sale. Use your booking or checkout system to confirm the final outcome.
